We are not currently accepting submissions. 

Submission Guidelines

  • Please make sure that your submission is aligned with the concept of Maaje Zevwe. You can read more about us here and read our past issues here. 

  • Only people who are Kashmiris and identify as women can submit to Maaje Zevwe. 

  • Maaje Zevwe is a feminist space and does not accept racist, sexist, homophobic, or any other discriminatory content. 

  • Only send us your unpublished original work. 

  • All submissions must be emailed to maaje.zevwe@gmail.com with Subject Line – “Submission_Category”, e.g. “Submission_Poetry”. 

  • Any submission not following the category-specific guidelines (below) will be rejected.

  • Do send a small bio (50 – 100 words) with your submission (in the body of the mail).

  • Do not submit in two categories. One submission in one category will be considered by one person. 

  • If accepted, our team will coordinate with you throughout the editing and publishing process. You will get a proper reply (with feedback, if possible) if your submission is not accepted.

  • Our response time can be as quick as a day to as late as 1 month but stay assured, you will get a response. We do not believe in silent rejection.

Guidelines: Categories

   Fiction and Non-Fiction:

  • Word Count (without Title or footnotes, if applicable): 2000-5000 words (Flash Fiction of about 500-750 words is also welcome)

  • Times New Roman, 12 Font size, Double Spaced 

  • Only Word Doc files are accepted.

  Essays, Articles and Opinion Pieces:

​

  • Word Count (Without Title or footnotes, if applicable): 1500-2000 words

  • Times New Roman, 12 Font size, Double Spaced 

  • Only Word Doc files are accepted.

 

  Poetry:

​

  • Send us 3-4 poems (not more than 5 at once)

  • Length (without title): 50-60 lines (exceptions can be made)

  • Times New Roman, 12 Font size, Double Spaced 

  • Only Word Doc files are accepted.

 

 Translations:

​

  • Send us the translations (Kashmiri to English).

  • Times New Roman, 12 Font size, Double Spaced 

  • Only Word Doc files are accepted.

  • IMP: Provide a 200-word brief on the original work with your submission.

 

Photo Collections/Series/Essays:

​

  • Send us photo collections or essays; we welcome every kind of other oddities too. 

  • Format: .png and .jpeg only (pdf’s only in the case of photo essays, if required).

  • We can ask for high-resolution photos later on if your work is selected. 

  • IMP: Provide a 200-word brief on the work with your submission. 

 

Artworks:

  • Send us up to 5 to 10 art pieces (exceptions can be made in the case of an art series).

  • Do mention: Title of your work, Dimensions, Medium and Date

  • IMP: Provide a 200-word brief on the work with your submission (think of this as an artist’s statement).

  • We can ask for high-resolution images of your work if it is selected.

Maaje Zevwe appreciates and publishes all forms of hybrid, experimental and interdisciplinary work. If your work cannot be put into a category, do submit it to us and we would love to publish it!
